Paul Lingenfelter (Chair)
Paul Lingenfelter served as president of the State Higher Education Executive Officers from 2000 until mid-September of 2013. His work at SHEEO focused on accountability, public support for higher education, and improving instruction and student success. He was instrumental in creating the Commission on Regulation of Postsecondary Distance Education in partnership with the Association of Public Land-grant Universities. From 1985 to 2000, he served at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, where in 1996 he was appointed vice president to establish and lead the MacArthur Foundation Program on Human and Community Development. Lingenfelter has a B.A. in literature from Wheaton College, an M.A. from Michigan State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in higher education with an emphasis in public policy.
