Today, NC-SARA is excited to announce the addition of Jared Abdirkin to our team. Jared has been hired as Director, Institutional Engagement & Initiatives and will begin on April 22.

Jared currently serves as Director of State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) for the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE). He started in that role in August 2021 and has focused primarily on SARA as well as serving on the organization’s team of senior directors. While at NEBHE he has also worked on “administrative holds”, encouraging institutions to analyze and adjust their practices to increase student completion. In 2023 Jared helped lead the implementation of the new SARA Policy Modification Process.

Prior to joining NEBHE Jared spent a decade working at postsecondary institutions, focusing on academic affairs, program and college leadership, and admission and retention efforts, first as an academic advisor and then as Assistant Dean. Highlights of his work during that time include expanding transfer programs and contributing to the stabilization, re-organization, and growth of student services and academic affairs departments. Jared has also taught and coordinated several post-secondary courses. His professional passions include process improvement, interorganizational collaboration, and team development.

Jared earned a BS degree in Human Development and an MS degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island.
