NC-SARA Announces Three New Board Members

New members will enhance board’s focus on states’ and community colleges’ roles in NC-SARA to strengthen innovation in online education

BOULDER, CO – The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) today announced three new board members who will help support the nonprofit’s work to improve students’ access to quality postsecondary distance education opportunities.

“We are so pleased to have a Texas Community College president and State Portal Entity staff from Arizona and the District of Columbia join the board,” said NC-SARA President and CEO Dr. Lori Williams. “These strong leaders will bring new ideas and perspectives, providing additional expertise in essential areas and sharing the viewpoints of their stakeholder groups, which is important in an organization that has many such stakeholders.”

The new board members began their three-year terms with NC-SARA effective October 29, 2020 and can serve a maximum of two terms. The three new board members are:

  • Lanna Dueck, Executive Director of the Arizona SARA Council
  • Angela Lee, Executive Director, DC Higher Education Licensure Commission
  • Carlos Morales, President, Tarrant County Colleges Connect Campus

As these three new board members begin their service, NC-SARA also gave tribute to three outgoing members and thanked them for their years of work and their commitment to NC-SARA’s development:

  • Kathryn G. Dodge, Founder and Principal Dodge Advisory Group, LLC
  • Dianne Harrison, President, California State University Northridge
  • Paul Lingenfelter, President Emeritus State Higher Education Executive Officers Association (SHEEO)

The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) is a voluntary, interstate reciprocal approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. The initiative is administered by the country’s four regional higher education compacts (MHEC, NEBHE, SREB and WICHE) and coordinated by NC-SARA. States and institutions that choose to participate agree to operate under common standards and procedures, providing a more uniform and less costly regulatory environment for institutions, more focused oversight responsibilities for states, and better resolution of student complaints. www.nc-sara.org
