Organization

The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that coordinates a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. From its creation in late 2013, NC-SARA has grown to include 47 member states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than 1,500 colleges and universities participate, and institution renewal rates are above 99 percent. NC-SARA is financially stable, relying on institutional fees for its funding. NC-SARA works closely with the country’s four regional education compacts: the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE), the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Additional information is available at www.nc-sara.org

Location

NC-SARA’s office is in Boulder, Colorado, next door to the building housing the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS), the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) and WICHE. That proximity contributes to a stimulating professional environment focused on higher education policy and practice. A vibrant and lively community 25 miles northwest of Denver, Boulder has a population of approximately 104,000 and is home to the University of Colorado at Boulder, labs of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and many high-tech firms. Opportunities for outdoor activities abound, and cultural offerings are abundant in both Boulder and Denver.

Application

Candidates should provide a cover letter (three pages or less) and a resume (each in MS Word or Adobe pdf format) addressing the candidate’s suitability for the position. Include contact information (phone and e-mail address) for four professional references. Send application materials to: Marshall Hill at mhill@nc-sara.org  For best consideration, please submit application materials by July 17, 2017.
