Newly Released Book about Online Learning Features Chapter by NC-SARA Experts
The Handbook of Online Learning in Higher Education (Fielding University Press), edited by Drs. Kjell Rudestam, Judith Schoenholtz-Read, and Monique Snowden, features a chapter by Dr. Lori Williams, CEO and President of NC-SARA, and Alan Contreras, NC-SARA consultant. Williams noted, “I am honored and pleased to have contributed a chapter with my esteemed colleague, Alan Contreras, to this volume. Online learning is more important than ever in higher education and professionals in our field will gain a deep understanding of the roles state authorization and SARA play through reading our chapter.”
This Handbook captures the experience of over 40 leading educators and professionals in online learning—both at traditional campuses as well as virtual organizations. As the Handbook indicates, online learning will probably become vested as the way of the future—one of the “new normals” in higher education. If that is true, then it behooves every academic institution to learn from case studies of successful online delivery, as described in this volume, and use this new knowledge set to bring a new dimension of virtual learning to their community. Contreras summarizes its usefulness this way: “This collection of focused chapters will be an invaluable tool for people new to distance education as well as an essential reference for experienced professionals.”
