Updated SARA Policy Manual, 2024 SARA Policy Modification Process, NC-SARA Board Vote on Fee Structure, and 2023-2024 Negotiated Rulemaking

Updated SARA Policy Manual Posted!
Version 23.1 of the SARA Policy Manual is now available on NC-SARA’s website. This version incorporates changes resulting from the NC-SARA Board’s approval of five policy modification proposals in October 2023.

2024 SARA Policy Modification Process Calendar
Key dates for the 2024 SARA Policy Modification Process (PMP) are available on the 2024 SARA PMP calendar. In addition to the steps and dates listed on the calendar, the 2024 cycle will include a public forum. The date for the public forum will be added to the calendar once it is confirmed (after the proposal submission period ends). 

We will provide updates throughout the year about specific activities and key dates in the 2024 policy modification cycle and look forward to your engagement in this important process!


NC-SARA Board to Vote on New Institution Fee Structure
The NC-SARA Board will vote during its February 8, 2024, meeting on a proposal to change the institution fee structure for the first time since SARA’s inception in 2014. More information, including the rationale and specific fees proposed, is available on the NC-SARA website.

Full Overview of NC-SARA Data Reporting Process - March 13, 2024 / 12:00pm to 1:15pm Mountain Time

This year, NC-SARA will be hosting two webinars for institutions on the upcoming data reporting cycle. The first webinar, designed for institution staff who are experienced with data reporting and knowledgeable about the data reporting process, will provide a quick overview and highlight what’s new and notable. The second webinar is for those new to SARA work or less experienced with NC-SARA data reporting. That webinar will provide an overview of why data is collected and reported each year, as well as review the 2024 guidelines, 2024 Data Reporting Handbook, and resources for data reporting.

Webinar - Department of Education 2023-2024 Negotiated Rulemaking: Spring 2024 Update for the SARA Community
March 21, 2024 / 12:00pm to 1:00pm Mountain Time

In March 2024 NC-SARA will host a webinar during which representatives from the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) community will review the implications for SARA-participating institutions as well as SARA member states and territories of the 2021-2022 negotiated rulemaking final regulations published by the U.S. Department of Education in October 2023, with a particular focus on certification procedures related to institutional closure. Presenters will also provide an update on the 2023-2024 negotiated rulemaking process, again focusing on topics that may have the greatest impact on SARA.
